Hello.
Back in the 20th century I was a newspaper photographer (Nikon shooter, lab rat, king of Tri-X.) That dried up on me and I left photography bitter and broken and found something else to do for 25 years. I retired in 2000 and picked up a camera again. I chose Canon because, at the time, there seemed to be more used inventory on Canon gear than anything else. No deeper rationale than that.
Five-plus years later, that turned out to be a good decision and today I'm totally mirrorless, running with 2 R5s, an R7 and an R10.
I'm almost a militant hobbyist now. Having to make my pictures pay took all the fun out of it. These days you can find me wandering around the PNW on day trips and longer expeditions. I live in a pretty good place for that.
