Phil, at present I have the same and I am not doing anything till they run out. then change to a yearly plan at present that is the cheapest option, but that may change before my credit runs out

Hi Nick,

I suspected this moment would be arriving sooner, or later, but the news that existing licences will be honoured is welcome.

I registered my credit card as advised to lock in the plan availability (‘grandfather rights’) for a future that lies many years off.

(I’m not sure what will wear out first - my Adobe licences, credit card, or me).

Until then, it’s been a good run so far - and there’s an open road ahead…

lots of to and fro in editing software world people always up in arms about something wether it be adobe dxo lumina capture one affinity fact is they all have to charge money.

in a photo club and all members agree its a cost associated with the hobby business

as long as there product improves each update alls well and make use of Black Friday deals etc

in saying that reading about topaz latest appears to be a shocker

I own, use and enjoy software from Adobe, DxO, Topaz and Tony Kuyper - all represent good value and I'm happy to keep them updated to the latest versions to benefit from any new features. Having said that, everyone likes to feel they've had a deal, so I do look to take advantage of their offers/ sales.

(I'm not one of those people who expect them to continue to develop and fully support software for all eternity because I bought a copy back in 1991. I want the companies to be strong, successful, innovate, pay their engineers and staff well - and produce great software I can have the pleasure of using).


Topaz PAI has some very worthwhile features, if used appropriately and with due care. The 'Auto Pilot' function has always been completely useless (IMHO). I really like using their - now discontinued - Studio 2, which as well as being a creative powerhouse, was also a hub for their other photographic apps.

If you let it roll over the next time your account matures it will go up to $14.99 a month. You will get an email from Adobe 30 days before your existing account matures. You need to contact Adobe and get them to cancel that account and switch to the pay up front for the year account. $119.88 which is the equivalent to $9.99 a month. Mines up on Nov 16.

My deal as I was paying more per year for Zenfolio than the Photo Plan itself which comes with Portfolio. Up to 5 personal websites. Since Adobe came out with Denoise AI I dumped all my 3rd party apps which is another $100+ a year. I only kept Topaz Sharpen AI.

It's not all about the money. I have it. I know I don't need to upgrade apps and 3rd party apps every year but I did. All the way back to 2008 with PS and other apps. Drove me nuts not to have latest tech. After the great purge I'm not self guessing myself to which app I should have used. Getting lazier in my old age.

Hopefully soon Adobe will release the no DNG needed Denoise AI that ACR already has. That will huge. Also I'm looking forward for them to fire up the Neural Engine again. I picked up a Mac Mini M4 in anticipation. My 2019 iMac Intel won't be able to use it.

Adobe may not be the best but it's the best for my needs. You put far more effort into editing than I do. I still wish I had that drive.

Ahhh. I was wondering about that and good info for others. I did that annually as well from 2018 to 2023. Didn't want to see Adobe on my credit card statement every month. While I have the money it is easier to budget monthly. We put as much as we can away for travel. While I'm up in November things get a little more expensive around that time in Canada. I have to buy a new parka and snow shoes I may do this in August or September. It's coming sooner or later. Actually I'll happy to be back on the annual payment option.

I was forced into the annual plan if I wanted to keep my price on the Photography plan. No big deal, I guess, but I did have to forfeit that sweet $0.03 in interest every month, which now goes to Adobe. Greedy bastiches.
