I downloaded the EOS R5 Mark II Firmware Version 1.2.0 and when I try to run the update it finds the 1.2.0 FW then starts, and blanks out with a click of the shutter.

Anybody else having this issue?

Bryan…

I suggest that you use Camera Connect (Canon’s smartphone app) to look after all firmware upgrades.

There’ll be no need to search for the firmware, download it, transfer it to card, find the place in the menu system, etc… all will be done for you by the app!

With Camera Connect enabled, one won’t even have to know that there is an upgrade available: it’s all taken care of!

I will in the future, but I did not need to do so with any of my body's when I updated in the past, and the R5 MKII just after I got the body.

Who knows with the tech these days that keeps getting more sophisticated. Something may never go wrong but you just don't know. Canon needs to cover their behinds as well so that is probably the main reason.

This is so helpful, Thanks David I downloaded the app and as soon as I log in using myIdcanon I saw my R7 and R6, now I just have to add my wife’s R6 II and my R5 II. I see that latest firmware on my r7 and r6 deym I am so outdated :). But anyway assuming by Bluetooth I should be able to update the firmware without needing to download it on an SD card I assumed. Thanks again for sharing David.
