Got a question zero point asking on social media to many boneheads, a technique question.

Where should I focus with this image rider or animal I chose animal two reasons it has largest eye compared to lady and if it couldn't get eye would have chosen horses head/zone.Or is R5 good enough to focus on lady? original r5

And yes some odd artefacts near tail

Sorry for the non-technical response, but I would trust the R5 until proven otherwise. For me, I would choose the one that I expect to the subject of the photo. Most often, I figure that would be the rider... so "Person". My keepers could accept the horse's eyes to be not as sharp, but the riders eyes and face I would hope to get tack on.

Agree with the above, would always try for the rider as that is what they would look for in a print - try f5.6 or even higher to stand more of a chance of both being in focus ;-) works for me with motorcycle / riders.

5.6 was a no go once it got dark and artificial light came into play other guy had a Sony that went down to f2 slight advantage over my f2.8 more light
