So happy with the first shots... not going to win a prize, just happy with the camera and lens. Hopefully, I can do justice to the camera and lens in time.

That's a pretty impressive shot, plenty of Geese in the picture, shame they were flying away from you and not forward ways on. I got an R5 in December and was toying with getting either the 600mm or 800mm lens but ended up with the RF 100-500 L IS and a 1.4x converter instead. Sadly, due to lockdown I haven't been able to get the best from it yet, but hopefully I can soon.

Hi Stoo, you absolutely right about the direction of Geese (not a planned shoot, pulled over the car and lept out kina of shot) but I was overwhelmed when I did a test crop and could see the feather details. Tried the RF 800... did not like it at all, would not recommend it to anyone unless they had a very specific subject and stable conditions (could be user error) hence settling for the compact RF600. RF100-500 is a future purchase. I have EF100-400 and it is my go-to lens for most subjects, had a few issues when I tested it with the EF-RF adapter, kept getting a black screen on the LCD in the camera. Could have been a communication issue or an adapter issue. The RF100-500 lens is still long lead times which is great for my wallet.

For a quick shot it is very impressive. I'm amazed every time I use my R5 at the detail it brings up. I took a few of some gulls at a local park and even managed to get some decent flight shots, bearing in mind it was the first time I'd used the 100-500 and the eye focus setting. Strange about the Black screen when using the adapter on the 800 lens, never heard of that happening before.

I was lucky to have some money left to me in a will so managed to get the R5 and 100-500, without that I would still be using my 1Dx II and Sigma 150-600 C for shooting and as good as the 1Dx II is, I prefer the R5.

Seeing that I would say Pink-footed then... Canada Geese have black heads & feet.
