Reminds me of last September. I was driving down the North Loop road just after midnight traveling the posted daytime speed. A black cow thought the middle of the road was a great location to watch the stars.
Of all the years of riding around the Western US whether motorcycle camping or Iron Butt rides the only thing I've hit: insects....billions and billions.
My BIL hit a pheasant at 70 MPH with the engine guard of his Streetglide.
It exploded, and covered him head to foot with blood and guts.
It was so bad he had to turn around and go home.
I've been lucky. 60 years of riding, and the biggest thing I've hit was a cicada.
It hurt.
Oh...yeah. This brought up a memory....I did hit more than bugs.
About 1800 miles into an Iron Butt ride I was in the left lane on I-5 Northbound in the late afternoon. Out from the shadow of the Jersey Barrier momma duck and a few kids waddled in from of a 75 MHP motorcycle. 1/10th of a second it was over.
I asked my friend behind me about it. "I only saw a burst of feather."
