We have a large resident flock of dark-eyed juncos this winter. We usually get 2-4 at a time most winters, but this winter we seem to have a consistent flock of 6-8 birds. We're also seeing more plumage variation than we typically do.

This junco is showing plumage that we typically see, mostly slate-colored.

This junco is showing much more brown plumage, which from what I've read is typical for immature or sometimes female birds.

Another slate-colored bird in the branches of a tree that pulled out of the ground during heavy, wet snow. It landed on our daughter's car but fortunately it was a "soft landing" and there was no car damage.
