Scrolling up and down through the list of options you can add to My Menu was driving my nuts so I wrote down the list (in order as it appears in the menu). I hope it's helpful.

It's too bad this is just as archaic as with the R6. Even the "My Menu" of my Nikon D750 several years back was leaps and bounds above the R6; so much easier to select which items you wanted. It's one of the only things that I felt was a quantum leap BACKWARDS after selling my Nikon gear and buying the R6! Let's hope the R6 III makes this a whole lot simpler and quicker, like the 9-1/2 year old D750.

Is that list from the Configure: MY MENU1 item? If so, it looks very incomplete as it only has the red camera items and then two or three from other menus. Canon puts them in the same order they are in the menu, so you'd normally see all of the red camera items, then AF, then playback, etc. I don't see any AF options in your list.

Maybe the R6ii structures this differently, and you need to get the AF and other options elsewhere. My cameras seem to put them in one big list; the R7 has about 170 items and the R3 has nearly 200.

I think Canon does that on purpose. The programmers get a chuckle out of frustrated people. It's like talking your car to the carwash and the person getting out is 6'3" yet somehow your seat is as far forward as it will go. I swear they do that on purpose.

So is that list incomplete, or what? It's less than a third of the size of the lists for the R7 and R3, and doesn't have any AF, communication or playback stuff at all. I can't imagine that you can't assign tracking to a custom menu item.

OTOH, who the heck would want or need to assign "Release shutter without card" to a quick-menu item?!?! 😁

Sorry I didn't know that was not the complete list. Yes release Shutter without a card is sure a good use of resources.

Anton - it is complete for the Canon R6 II. I went to My Menu 1 > Configure > Select Items to Register and wrote down every option that appears.

Thanks for that. So is there no way to add any of the AF items to My Menu? Like turning tracking on and off, or changing the subject to detect?

Hmm. It just seems strange that there would be so fewer options on the R6ii than previous cameras. But I sure don't have any knowledge to add!

It's interesting that other Canon's include more My Menu options. I'm really new to Canon so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I think I initially tried to do just that and gave up. Later, I just customized buttons to take care of those to items, which, IMO, is much easier and faster than having to go to the My Menu.

Anton - I went back to the My Menu options after I did a firmware update. To my surprise, my original list was only a fraction of the total options available. I edited my original post to show the correct list. Sorry about that!

For something to do think I may create series of spreadsheets. Colour all the cells that start with A on the first one. All the B's on the second one. Maybe repeat the same columns side by side and do that.

Working on my spreadsheet it just occurred to me. I've been complaining about my menu not being in alphabetical order. I just realised it is in the order of the actual camera menus from front to back. Doh!

While I'd still prefer alphabetical order that didn't take very long. A little rudimentary. The menus are highlighted and there are 195. I needed Sensor Clean so I went into that column and it was 166. I used the indicator on the right when you scroll through the my menu items on the camera and I knew it would be about ¾ of the way down. Found it quickly.

I think next I'm going to add colours to the left column to show which category these are in. Red (basic camera), Purple (AF), Blue (playback) and so on.

Great idea to create a readable list. I often own 2 or 3 different Canon models, right now the R, R7 and R6 MkII. I try to create the My Menus in a similar order but of course newer camera models have newer features not on the older ones. I also shoot with the Canon M5 and M6 MkII and sadly the menu selection options are not as generous as the R series cameras.

Hi, I just joined to try to add a full list of cross referenced My Menus items for the R6 II, here is an example, but I don't know how to properly add this. This was done in Numbers on a Mac, but these are only screenshots. I'm not able to drag a whole table in so that it would be seamless. If any one is interested in this and/or has any advice of an optimal way to provide this info on this forum then reply.

This took quite a bit of time, and a considerable amount of frustration, wasn't very familiar with Numbers and don't even know how I achieved some of it. It works well for me, I'm able to search it for items I want, I'm not sure I'll be able to get that search function over to here, but I'd be glad to provide the whole 195 cross referenced items if anyone is interested, one way or another.

Thanks to everyone for this discussion, and especially arnoldtom for providing all of the initial items. If anyone has any ideas then let me know.
