I learned this several years ago. Like most of us, I go to a lot of time and trouble to customize all my camera settings from customizing buttons and info screens to filling in my copyright info and how I like images named, etc. as well as the My Menu green screens. Before I package up a camera body, I take another camera or my phone and photograph every menu page on the rear LDC screen. I also scroll through the Customize Buttons settings and record how I have my camera set up.
The reason is, Canon or any other repair shop will do a factory reset so everything is back to the factory defaults. I get the body back and flip through the images up on my computer screen and make necessary changes to the settings on the camera. Right now I have 2 similar camera bodies, the R7 and the R6 MKII. For as much as possible I have every button set for the same customization and things like the My Menu screens synchronized as much as possible given one camera may not have every feature of a newer one. This makes it so much easier in the heat of the moment out in the field when you switch cameras.
Took me about an hour to reset my camera just now and double check the settings, attach my vertical grip and L bracket and my camera strap.
Easy peasy!
