I was not sure where to post this. I primarily post shots in monthly R threads and it relates to last month's submissions.

For those familiar with Portugal and everyone else who may be interested. On Feb 27 I went to a place full of wild stocks near Monchique and this year I got a shot with a tagged bird. A few years ago I met a person from this site who asked me to submit any images with tagged storks. She told me that they found some Storks had stopped migrating.

I submitted the shot below and got a reply today. A first for me and kinda of cool. The Odiaxere region is near Lagos and Alvor. I got those Flamingo shots I posted last month in Alvor.

Thanks so much for the info! This is a stork that we ringed as a chick in Odiáxere in 2023. Nice to see that is looking good!

The arrow shows where I got the shot. I got these here as well. Thanks for looking.

Very nice pics of the storks.

I had to figure out where these places were. Lagos is in Nigeria, right? Well, there seems to be one in Portugal too.

If there are storks in Portugal in February, isn't that evidence enough that they are not migrating?

Lagos is in Portugal. I’m sorry. I don’t know much about their migratory habits. I just shoot them and remember what she told me.

I’ve run into a few photogs and watchers from Britain here. They told me they come specifically to the Algarve in February and March bird migrations from Africa.

Ah - OK, Feb-March is spring there.
