Is anyone here using DxO Pure Raw 3 or 4 with the R5ii? If so, is it working for you?

I use version 3 and wasn't looking to upgrade. They added support a few weeks ago and while that's great, what I'm seeing is not. With other cameras the only thing I had to do after running it was to reset the profile to the camera matching one on the original (I wish they would retain that). With the R5ii it now darkens the exposure by a full stop!!

So while it reduces noise, I just need to add it back when brightening it - though it is better. I could download the version 4 trial, but if that has the same issue then I will assume they will eventually fix this. I haven't checked their support or forums yet, but thought I'd at least check here first.

Jake…

Have you made any adjustments (in the camera’s preferences) aimed at preserving detail in an image’s highlights?

If you have, please undo. (I don’t have my R5m2 with me, but I’ll get back later with the setting that should not be changed.)

I shoot RAW only and turn off all in camera adjustments, which wouldn't show up in the RAW file anyway. What you're seeing is the same image in its unedited RAW and post-Pure Raw format. Only change I made was to match the color profile in the DNG file to match (it was worse in the Adobe profile).

I'm reunited with my cameras.

The Highlight Tone Priority setting that must be set to OFF is shown below. I guess that this is not the cause of your problem, but it is worth remembering. Maybe, there is another trap still to be uncovered!

With the original R5 and DxO PR3 enabling Highlight Tone Priority led to the same problem that you've experienced.

ps: Don't buy DxO PR4 now as there is a new version coming out soon. (I'm a Beta tester)

The version I use does not darken the image compared to the original. May even be a little brighter (1/3 stop. Noticed on a landscape with bright sky (but not blown out))

Well David, it seems that I didn't have this turned off like I thought I did and it cleared things up. Thanks much!!

I have DxO PR4. I use it with Capture One (when necessary). The DxO DNG imports to Capture One about 1/3 stop brighter. It's not something that has caused me any issues.
