The first photo isn't technically a macro, but I love how the RF 50mm F/1.8 performed at catching detail in such low-light conditions - the only light sources were the moon above the tree canopy, and the ghost mushrooms themselves! This was my first time taking my Sigma 70-300mm Macro lens out and using it in anger, and I'm hooked! I can't wait to find more tiny things to photograph.

Wow, so cool. Makes me wish we had them here. It would be like walking through the forest in Avatar.

Very interesting - I thought these only grew in Brazil?

Paul.
I actually know very little about them, and was lucky enough to have a local friend in the mushroom community tell me about them and act as my guide! So I've only just looked it up, and from what I can tell Omphalotus nidiformis is mostly found in Southern Australia - weird! I was also under the impression they were in South America, but perhaps that's a different species?

Thankyou! It was incredible; even with the moon out, you could clearly see the glow with the naked eye! We spent a lot of time laying on the cold ground just staring at them before I even got the camera out :ROFLMAO:

Cool stuff - never thought to go to my local fungi hangouts at night. Slippery down there. The 1.8 looks great. I still use my EF 50 mm with the converter. I'm still trying to adjust to seeing forum photos shot at ISO 40000...

This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...

A good lens for what it does, with it's drawbacks
I have had this lens since it came out and it is my lightweight go to lens for walking around in the city and using my infrared-converted camera...
