Black Rock, Scott Mountains, Siskiyou County, California. The Pacific Crest Trail runs nearby. When I got back to my mother-in-law's place, she said the views are better heading due west from the town of Etna. Oh, well, there's always next time.

Interesting shot. Just out of curiosity, why f/20? The sweet spot of this lens is somewhere around f/4-f/5.6 where center and corners are the sharpest. Just asking? :)

Just before taking this shot I was shooting with trees in the foreground. Plus, I was mesmerized by the clouds moving past (left to right), and forgot to change the aperture. 👁️

OK. Gotcha. I'm just as shy as you are coz I do have same or similar bad habits with re-adjusting cam settings on the fly when e.g. entering a church from a bright street resulting in high noise pix. Then comes denoise AI in post, something I could have avoided with a little care paying attention to the shooting mode. C'est la vie. Being 68 can be a challenge, right? Take care! :)

Wonderful capture. Makes me wish that I was there. I'm curious to see a snip of the original color image.

Btw, I also like the 70-200mm for landscapes. And I also always forget to change setting when I move or change compositions. I this point, I don't think that I can be fixed. Most common is IS On/Off and Mode, especially when using a tripod. I always forget that.

Here's the color image. I spent a lot of time in PhotoLab optimizing for B&W, and not as much time on this version. I'm guessing the mountain was about a mile away, and I originally chose B&W because of the color cast and haze.
