Arrived before sunrise to spend a few hours admiring the owls and osprey on Blue Cypress Lake near Vero Beach, FL. Definitely one of my favorite places for wildlife but the early morning sunrises on the lake are also incredible.

I know this is the bird forum, but since it was on this bird centric trip, I’ll keep this here. I think it really shows the versatility of the RF100-500L.

Fantastic shots! Is that your tripod in the reflection of the owl's eye?

Incredible set of shots!

Wonderful set. Capturing BIF has been a challenge for me, but it seems that you have that special mojo. Keep it up!

Great shots!!!
Thanks!

Thanks! It takes some practice but it also takes getting the R5 or other camera setup to help you make the most of the tool you’re using. There are a number of excellent YouTube videos on this with my favorite being Whistling Wings Photography’s R5 birds in flight set-up video. I’ve been out a few times with Ron on Blue Cypress Lake and he is not only a great photographer, but also a biologist with a true love for the wildlife and landscape. What I‘ve done, am doing, was watch Ron‘s, and other’s, videos, got the camera setup, saved that to a control setting and practice/enjoy/have fun/experiment. I update the saved settings as I find tweaks here and there. I’ve mimicked that on my R7, which I also had with me with the RF800 f/11 mounted to get a chance at those birds that were beyond the reach of the RF100-500/1.4x combo. I continue to be surprised at the quality of the shots I get with the R7.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
