I am wanting a cheap second camera, can anyone tell me if the canon RP is worth it. I have the R6 Mark II, I just want something so I am not constantly changing lenses.
I have the RP. It was the first full frame mirrorless camera I ever bought.
It’s a decent little camera. Takes good pictures as long as you aren’t shooting high speed bursts. It’s not great for sports or action stuff. And the autofocus is somewhat antiquated by today’s standards. It will do HD level video pretty well. But the 4K has a pretty severe crop to it. My only real gripe is that the battery life is shorter than it should be and they don’t have a dual battery grip option.
Canon currently has them on sale on their refurb site for right at $600, which is a steal. I almost would like to buy another just to have.
Some drawbacks of the RP in conjunction with your R6 MKII: The RP doesn't have IBIS and it uses different batteries, doesn't have the joystick, two dial on top rather than three, the menus and features are different.
I have the R5 and kept my original R. I have to force myself to remember the differences... but at least they use the same battery.
