One of the more reclusive residents at the Leonabelle Nature Preserve, I was watching this bird come in and out of the bushes, and it finally cooperated by coming into the open.

But that was short lived as another came out of nowhere and they chased each other for about 45 seconds disappearing into the underbrush.

Anytime I can get the lens on one I’m happy. The conditions were abysmal with a heavy overcast.

You did well to capture it, as I have said before - if you see something take the shot straight away and then think / look at alternative shots, you may only get the one chance ;-)

I completely agree, birds like Rail's are very shy. I've been able to capture them at the Port Aransas nature center only about 4 times in all my visits. The area has Clapper, Virginia and Sora's. All are very shy.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
