After a walk on the deck after breakfast I spotted some sea birds about a mile out. Too far to shoot. But I noticed some Dalphin’s jumping and in once case coming about 20’ in the air.

Considering we’re literally in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the Equatorial Pacific I was very happy to see something other than flying fish. the Pod was probably about a mile form the ship, so any imagery at that distance speaks for the R5 Mk II and 100-500 zoom.

Then those days you wish you had your gear.
Yeah, I know the feeling. This morning I went up on deck to see my first S Hemisphere sun rise. We crossed the Equator last night at around 22:45 (L).

So I'm shooting the sun with a wide angle at 2 46' 54" S 166 33' 59" W, and I look up to see a Frigate Bird about 500' up. By the time I got the 100-500 the bird was way to the stern of the ship.

In the words of the late great Douglas Adams "so long and thanks for all the fish" ;-) great captures no matter the distance

Lot's of by the time I got my 100-500 stories. :) Only got one this year. Went for a drive with friends and didn't expect much. Got a nice shot of a black bear in the wild.
