Name

Hi

My name is Bob from UK. Just bought a Canon R7 and looking for a new home with the impending demise of DPR.

Bought my first SLR in 1970 when still at school and then moved up to Olympus OM2 in the mid 70s. Stayed with the OM system until moving to Canon with EOS 33 I think in late 90s. First digital was EOS 10D around 2004 and then progressed through 50D, 7D & 7D mkii. Now joined the mirrorless revolution but still using EF lenses with adaptor

Main subject to shoot are wildlife, motorcycle racing and aircraft.

A few shots from the last 45 years.

Welcome to our forum Bob, we hope you find our site useful. A great mix of shots, thanks for sharing with us.

I am a DPReview refugee as well. I read the site for many years since 2002 but only had time for participating in 2020 when COVID hit. I now do remote work at home that allows me more flexibility in participation. I first got the Nikon FTn in 1972 which I used along with an F2S for many years shooting mostly HS Ektachrome transparencies. I switch to Canon in 1991 due to amazing EOS autofocus which Nikon refused to follow with a similar product. So switch I did. I have been hardcore Canon ever since. I bought the 30D when first announced. I could noy believe that miraculous breakthrough. I love that 30D. I owned a number digital EOS bodies since then with upgrades ever year or two. I now own a 70D, 7DII, 5D MkIV, EOS R, EOS R5 and EOS R7. Lots of bodies but each as had a specific purpose for me and at times I have two shooters. I own 8 RF lenses, 14 EF L lenses and a number of other compatible lenses and flashes. I shoots birds most since COVID. but I have shot many indoor and outdoor sports like water polo, soccer, football, track and others. I had 3652 posts on DPReview before in closed.

Hi there and welcome. Things are definitely a lot sleepier around here than in the DPReview forums, but maybe that's good in some sense as it might not be as overwhelming. And still some good nuggets of info and revelation now and then. EDIT: I also appreciate how the different RF series cameras have their own sub-forum, instead of everything being lumped together into "Canon EOS R Talk" like on DPR.

Welcome Bob and thanks for joining up here. You like to shoot similar subjects to me. I've got my tickets booked for RIAT this year and hope to take my eldest son along, although he's only 3 so I'm not sure what he'll think of it :)
