I own this lens from the 1990s, the glass quality of the lens is as good as the most recent canon lenses.
But how performs in a Canon EOS R7?
The lens AF is slow and it hunts a little when you are using servo mode. Still, it focus and you can judge the results checking the attached pictures.
Pro
1- Glass quality
2- Range from 80-200 useful for portrait photography
3- Price, you can buy it used for around 600.
4- f/2.8
Cons
1- Very heavy lens
2- Closest focus distance of 1.8 m
3- No IS.
Will I recommend it to be used with an R camera? Probably no. But if you own the lens or if you find it with a very good price like I did, do not hesitate to add it to your collection of L lenses.
