Hello Archibald, the lepelaarsplassen are in Almere. Its possible to get there by train or bus from Amsterdam (20 minutes by train). To go to the l. P. You have to walk or rent a bike.
I live in Almere so it's easy for me to go there by bike.

Ah yes, I see it is very difficult to get there if you are a tourist. It is similar with other birding hotspots in Holland. Last year I managed to get to Vogelplas Starrevaart (by Voorschoten), but it wasn't easy.
Looks good... but getting to that bus stop requires figuring out the buses. My comment was more of a general one. De Biesbosch is famous but very hard to access as a tourist, unless you have a car. Same with Meijendel. Polder Arkemheen is not too bad if you have a bike, but I don't like cycling with a big lens.
Yes, of course you're right. But at least there is public transport near these lakes.
In most cases like the ones you mention it is not even an option.
We have a nice public transport planner here and it's actually quite easy to get there from Amsterdam. Longest walk is the 3k on the map in my earlier post: 9292.nl
