Here are some quick links to helpful resources along with the latest firmware versions.

Firmware Note: After selecting your OS version if the firmware is not displayed try selecting an older OS version. For some reason the firmware doesn’t always display for the latest OS versions, even though installing the firmware is not OS dependent once downloaded.

This is very nice. Thanks for your hard work Timothy. Would also be nice to see some quick links to current RF lenses as regards to their latest firmware releases. Much appreciated in advance. :)

Thank you Ferenc. I've posted similar for the lenses in the lens forum here:

Love to see this, considering that Googling my camera's latest firmware update was what first brought this site to my awareness.

Quick question guys please, My R6ii currently has the firmware ver 1.1.1 installed, can I just install the 1.3.0 update or do I need to download the 1.2.0 version first?

Cliff.

You can just install 1.3.0 as it includes the fixes in previous versions.

I didn't see the R7 in the list, it's firmware is 1.4.0 which was released back in December, 2023, It's not a bad idea to occasionally check the Canon website for updates to lens firmware as well. Updates are not common but do happen.

Chris, this is the list for the full frame cameras.
Also, the R7 is at 1.5 now -

This thread is just for the full-frame cameras Chris. Resources for the APS-C cameras can be found in the APS-C Forum and this thread.

Canon just released firmware updates for the R1 and R5mk2. Details here: https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-announces-new-firmware-for-the-eos-r1-and-eos-r5-mark-ii/

I got a notification when launching the Camera Connect app on my phone. Decided to do the update from there. Will report back. Most interesting to me is the ability to set the number of frames in pre-capture mode. I'd largely given up using it because of the huge number of images to cull after a shoot.

The R1 and R5 mkII updates have been removed by Canon due to bugs - hopefully wont be too long before we are able to download them again. NOTE: personally I try to wait a few weeks to ensure they are stable updates before installing them myself ;-)

Sony does the same. Release new firmware then a day or two later remove it due to bugs. I always give it a few weeks as well and then only update if it fixes an issue that bothers me or adds some new feature that I'm interested in.

Okay - gone back on what I 'usually' do on this one as there are a few things I really want to test out at the next race meeting.

The very first thing I did was to turn off password at start / wake, most stupid idea ever - your moving around trackside with the body asleep and you catch something out of the corner of your eye. . . pick camera up to eye and. . . . . . damn, 6 digit password fumble fumble and. . . . . moment is gone! Looking forward to trying out the SP AF setting at the circuit to see if it helps shooting through catch fencing, no mention of motorsport use but could be a game changer for the 'red zone' areas where we have to shoot / pan through catch fencing.

Everything else seems to working well, limited quick fire tests I think the AF is even slightly better, especially keeping focus on the eye - one of the many little 'tweaks' Canon do withing the firmware updates without publishing them maybe.
