I'm glad I live so close to River Grove Park along the San Jacinto River. Some afternoons I go down just to have a look around and see what might be there to photograph. Yesterday did not disappoint as a came across a great blue heron sunning himself on the railing of the boardwalk. Patiently waiting for some action was not easy as I forgot to carry my monopod with me and the 200-800mm lens gets heavy. Still, my patience was rewarded when it took flight and then tried to catch some lunch, although I believe it was unsuccessful.
