Hi everyone,
I am so pleased to have found this community ! Just picked up my r7 yesterday and have spent the day messing about with it. I am so looking forward to learning new things and sharing 😀

Welcome Mel and thank you for joining up here and saying hello :) How are you enjoying your R7 so far?

I am quite impressed, it is compact but nice to hold . I love the silent shots but I ended up with half a cards worth because instead of the birds flying off straight away they stayed eating and I was after inflight shots ! I tried using the flip out screen but found this slow to respond when I was after a quick shot and for the small birds the blue square round the eye was hard to see. the focus also did not recognise the birds each time. I also tried the viewfinder which I thought was quicker to respond, but that could just be because I am used to using a viewfinder . I am using ef lenses with the adapter, which is ok but I would like to try a matched lens to see if there is any difference in reaction time. The adapter is a tad fiddly and it is not readily apparent which end goes on the camera and which end the lens . So in short I like it, but there is a lot to learn and it will take some time to adjust my techniques to make the most of it.

Yes the silent shutter is great if you want to be a ninja :) The mechanical shutter makes a very audible clunk though, so that should scare away most subjects. I'm sure it won't be too long before you have adjusted to it. I'm still waiting for my R7 to turn-up, although I did hire one briefly and found switching between my R5 and the R7 a little confusing with the different controls, but I guess it's also something I will adjust to (hopefully).

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
