Hi all...I've had my R5 for about three months. No RF lenses yet, but am eyeballing that new RF 100mm f2.8 Macro due in July. I have a passel of EF lenses that will be hard to replace, but over time, some will go for sure. I still have my 5D4 and just sold my 5DS R (which was sad, but...). Anyway, looking forward to lots of great discussions here...thanks for having me in! billedgarphoto.com

I'm adding a couple bird photos shot last weekend with my R5 and the Canon EF 100-400 L II with 1.4x III. The focus tracking is crazy good tech.

Welcome to the board from a fellow Washingtonian

Welcome to the group from an ex-Washingtonian. You'll love the RF glass, it is beyond phenomenal. I so wish I had it back when I was traveling. I think I'm going to have to stop buying glass and get back to traveling when this pandemic is under control. LOL

What RF lenses have you got in your kit and what do you think would be a good place to start. I was considering the RF 100-500mm L, but aside from the weight, nothing is saying it's better glass than the 100-400mm L II. I then thought about the RF 70-200 f2.8L, but no extenders to leverage it as a single go-to lens on a hike (plus not better than the EF II version except weight and size. I've sort of settled on the new RF 100mm f2.8 macro as a starting point; but I'd love to hear your experience.

My EF investment is pretty steep, but I do want a few RFs in there. (I have (all Canon but the one Sigma) 8-15mm f4 L fisheye, Sigma 14mm f1.8 Art, EF 11-24 f4 L, EF 16-35mm f4L IS, TS-E 24mm f3.5L II, EF 40mm f2.8 STM, EF 24-105mm f4L IS, EF 50mm f1.4, EF 65mm MP-E f2.8 1-5X Macro, EF 180mm f3.5L Macro, EF 70-200mm f2.8L II IS, EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L II IS, and EF 500mm f4L IS along with 2x III and 1.4x III...tough to replace...got to pick my expenses.)

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
