Amateur shooting in Auto going on a Safari.
Looking to buy the EOS R7. Will this lens work on this camera and will it be good enough for a beginner. Not looking to spend a fortune or use a giant zoom lens. Thanks

Never been on a safari, but yes and yes. It's what I hand my wife when she wants to shoot. I assume you're going to bring something else, correct? That lens has an effective focal length of 160-640mm on the R7, which is great for anything that's not real close, but not if you want to capture everything else.

If you need to go light, easy, and inexpensive then you could tack on the 24-240mm, though it still may not be wide enough (would be better on a full frame body). There are other choices, including some Sigmas, for the R7 that could give you what the 100-400mm won't.

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated. I will take a look at some full frame body.
