Yes you are right but they are still a far cheaper way of extending the reach and, unless in low light, work well. Also with the ISOs available on the R7 and the superb noise removal software available losing a stop or 2 isn't the drama it used to be.
 
Really good points and food for thought. I hope I can push the iso as far as the reviewers are all saying.
Thanks for excellent point of view, gives me lots to consider, and that’s the value of a forum like this isn’t it.
