Horses floating along at the race

Shot these on Friday at The 1836 event in Palestine, Texas. I love how the camera captured the beauty and fluidity of the horses in motion. These were taken during the heat trials for The Alamo Race. Riders rode a large circle around the pasture arena and then down to water where they crossed a rather deep section and then raced to the finish line. And they were all booking it as fast as their horses could go. R7 with the 70-200 f/4 lens.

Here are a few from Saturday when I opted to just sit at the stock pond and catch the riders entering and leaving the water. Wish it had been a bit cloudy to soften the contrast and shadows but we had a bluebird sky that day.

Great shots. Looks like a lot of fun. Wish I could be doing that (I'd wear my helmet, though).
