If no one has any firsthand experience, perhaps interested parties could offer some thoughts on possible pros and cons.

Description: The Leofoto UL-02 and UL-03 allow the user to rotate between landscape and portrait effortlessly. Featuring precision bearings, the bracket has four different 90-degree position settings with no disassembly required. The UL Series rotating brackets come in either silver or black, and are constructed from hard anodized, aircraft-grade aluminum.

Steven …

For those who are not familiar with the design:
  1. TRIPOD attaches via Arca-style clamp to the front part of the device
  2. LENS does NOT attach to the ring — in the photo, note the gap between lens and ring.
  3. CAMERA attaches to the rear plate.
The point to dwell on is #2: the lens protrudes through the ring without touching it. The ring allows the camera to rotate in relation to the tripod; and it can do so even if no lens is attached.

An important benefit of this bracket is that it can be used with lenses such as the RF 24–105 f/4 or the RF 100 f/2.8 macro which are not really suited to having conventional rotating collars attached to them.

By relying on a UL-03 bracket, lenses like those mentioned can be quickly attached and then returned to their normal configuration. There'll be no awkward contraption attached to your lens for the 95% of the time when it is not needed! That feature alone makes the UL-03 bracket a thoroughly worthwhile purchase. Check which version suits your equipment.

I asked Leofoto support: Does this item fit the Canon R5 Mark II?

Answer: Yes, the UL-03 has a 2.9” (~74 mm) internal ring diameter, designed to fit bodies like the Canon R5 and R5 II.

All my RF lenses have a 77mm filter threads, which is at least a mm or two less than the full lens diameter. I'd be more worried about the lens than the body (although the picture above shows an EF 24-105/4, which also takes a 77mm filter and it looks fine in the picture.)

BTW, I just noticed this item has a 20% black friday discount at B&H right now.

To assemble: start with four separate (‘separated’?) items:
  1. Attach the camera to the UL-03.
  2. Attach the UL-03 to the tripod.
  3. Finally, insert the rear of the lens through the UL-03, and attach it to the camera.
The point that I’m trying to empathise is that the only diameter that matters is that of the rear of the lens.
