I run into an issue with Luminar AI (L AI). Specifically trying to edit CR3 files and opening HIF (HEIF HEIC) files. The issue with the CR3 files is that they are dark really dark like underexposed by several stops dark. When I open them with DPP they come out as expected. I can convert them, then they are okay in L AI. With JIF they are suppose to be able to be opened (I am on a MAC running Catalina and HEIC files is an Apple thing).

I emailed Skylum support last night (april 14, @ 8 pm eastern daylight time) and this is the response I received a reply this morning @ 7:30 a.m EDT:

Hi Norman,

Thanks for reaching us about this.

We have been able to reproduce the issue with Canon R5 CR3 files on our end and created a task to fix it.
The issue should be sorted out in one of the following updates.

As for Canon R5 HEIF files, could you please send us several files so we can test them on our end?

While I am not happy that they say a fix"will be sorted out in one of the following updates" ( a firm date would be better) they are still very responsive. I will be sending them som HIF files for the other issue.

Skylum has always been very responsive to issues/emails. I hope (as an IT worker I disllike using the word hope) they fix it very soon.

I too have had problems with cr3 files in Luminar AI and 4. I contacted Skylum and was told that I needed to select the correct profiles. However, the only choice other than luminar was Adobe R5 which seemed to make no difference. Even Adobe do not currently have Canon R5 camera profiles.
I have since purchased and installed Color Fidelity R5 profiles into Adobe Lightroom/ACR which are much closer to the DPP R5 results. I understand that Skylum are aware of the problem and are supposed to be working on it.

Last night (June 8th) I launched Luminar A1 (mac os Catalina) and here was an update to version 3. After I upgraded, it imported the CR3 files beautifully. I also used Affinity Photo and the images were identical. I have not tried the HEIF yet as that was stil problematic with Luminar AI so I changed back to JPG's in the R5. I did not run Luminar A1 on my Win 10 machine so I do not know if there is an update to Win10.

I have to update Neo. My last update had a glit with the coding for noiseless ai. Hoping this one doesn’t.
