Canon R6 II Moire on Solid Fabrics?

Anyone else experience occasional moire on solid fabrics? I've had it happen a few times. Very strange.

Does it happen to be aperture dependent? I wouldn't expect it wide open on a sensor that size.

A speculative question, does it happen in the electronic shutter or any shutter mode? I am thinking of this because the moire patterns seem to emerge from overlapping patterns. I sometimes notice it on TV when a person is wearing something with the right pattern to create on-screen moire patterns. Could the cause possibly include the shutter speed selected?

Both instances were the following:

RF 85mm F2 STM, ISO 400, 1/160, f5.6
RF 70-200 F4 L IS USM, ISO 400, 1/200 (Possibly 1/250, can’t remember specifically.) , f4
Both in EFCS mode. Perhaps I need to be in Mechanical to avoid this? If so, that kills my idea of using the R8 as a second body… ughhh.

I‘m going to shoot today in mechanical and see if it pops up again…

(I’m really trying to talk myself into the R8 as a second body because it’s an entire grand + cheaper than the R6.2, but the R6.2 is just so good and I’m not sure I want to give up a mechanical shutter option.)

Well, if you keep your cameras for at least three years, the additional cost turns out to be about $1 a day!

lol, at $2,500 a pop I’ll keep them for more than three years! Or better yet, sell them off to pay for the newest whiz bang!

See! Now you have better evidence that an R62 is a better option at a little extra cost. Well worth it! (PS I taught marketing for over forty years!)

I don't think the shutter has anything to do with moire. Moiré is patterns interacting. You have three patterns here, from the fabric, sensor and viewing screen. Depending on the frequency, contrast and angle of the patterns, they will produce various interference patterns strong or weak.

I keep getting it on cross check type fabrics. Very annoying bc it’s hard to see on the LCD screen during a shoot.
