Last winter I visited Monkey Island, a small island in a small lake in NE Guatemala. It is owned by a hotel. A group of spider monkeys live on that island. They were apparently pets that escaped or were released into the wild. The monkeys are not able to look after themselves very well, so the hotel brings them bananas every morning. Guests can come along in the boat and watch the monkeys come out of the forest for the treats.
