Out of curiosity I just did a bit of survey on a recent series of cityscape shots I took during a 5 day visit to Lisbon, Portugal just in order to see how I utilized the 10x zoom capabilities of this particular lens attached to my EOS R6 MK1. Here we go:

Total number of pictures taken in 5 days: 1118

Let's see the extreme ends:

At 24mm: 481 (43%)

At 240mm: 48 (4.3%)

Everything in between: 589 (53%)

Most used in between: 46 at 35mm (4.1%), most probably when I did a slight in-camera crop

As an avid cityscape shooter I think this lens works pretty well for my needs and really happy to have it.

For your ref. here a pic taken in town: 1/125s, F13, 24mm, ISO400

Do you also analyze your shooting style in order to get a comprehensive backup of your lens selection?

Cheers, Feri

I love Lisbon, and that is a great shot of the trolley.

On a short vacation right now. We drive so I have five lenses packed. So far I’ve used the RF 24-240. And that’s it. 😁

Great lens. Haven’t pulled data on my use but I’ve been more cognizant of using traditional focal lengths now that the R6II shows me the focal length I’m at in the EVF. 24, 35, 50, etc.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Japan. I took the 24-105 f4, 16 f2.8 & 35 f1.8. I also took the 85 f2, just because I could fit it in the bag, but only used it for a couple of portrait shots. I use it a lot at home, but on the next overseas trip it will stay at home (although I really liked the portraits that I took with it).
Total Pictures = 1545
Canon RF 24-105 f4: 65%
Canon RF 35 f1.8: 21%
Canon RF 16 f2.8: 14%
With the 24-105 around 50% were at 35mm or below & 50% above 35mm with about 2/3 rd's of those above 70mm (10% at 105). Occasionally I would have liked the extra reach that the 24-240 gives, but I was very happy with those 3 lenses. The 24-105 for general use & the 35 & 16 for wide angle and low light. I took to carrying my RP at night slung over my shoulder with the 35mm on it & the 16 in my jacket pocket (and vice-versa) & leaving the 24-105 & my camera bag behind, using them mostly during the day.
