I have the R5 and the R7. Love them both. The R7 is getting a little long in tooth. I was willing to pay up to 3K for the right R7II. Canon doesn't seem to see that R7II would sell in in high numbers? Instead of a New R7II . I opted for the 24-105 F2.8. In the world of APSC,Canon disappoints the most. It has been so long since the 7DII and no follow up from Canon. R7 is a great upgrade from the 90D. It is no replacement for the 7D. A pure birding and sports APSC from Canon left to die. A thought, When the 7DII was released from Canon. All you see was R7 out in the field that was the go-to camera for birders. Nikon had to release the D500 to keep up and no Sony's at the time. Been to long Canon. RJ

On the flip side, maybe we'll get a firmware upgrade to bring the R7's AF up to par with the other models.

I have the R5 and R7. I have no problems with the AF on the R7. The 5DIV had a way underperforming AF compared to R7 And cost at least twice as much. I can pick out Ruby Kinglets in a tree far easier than the R5 with the 100-500

I really like my R7 as well after 2 months of ownership, no issues with autofocus so far. I am in no hurry to upgrade to R7 Mark II.

Good to hear, I was planning on grabbing the R7 II May/June when the release was project but going to grab an R7 tomorrow. Tired of the Canon secret squirrel release schedule.
