Had a incident chasing tornadoes appears rf 70/200 L got a nasty scratch right in centre of lens and another to outside $1000/1200 the quote to replace outer element.
Travel insurance will cover it

Edit so I had to use rf 100-400 just didnt acquire focus as well but worked it out to a ok level son playing football on a very rainy day

Glad to hear that your insurance is stepping up and taking care of the lens. I don't see the artefacts that you spoke about.
 
Wow, that's a pricey repair but glad that you insurance will cover it. Good luck.
