Did some astro a few weeks back.

Guy said you should download photopills app.

So for better or worse i did while i was in hospital to pass the time.

Many functions do many on here use it?

Or is it just a fancy gadget that you can get by without

There is a whole set of very good tutorial videos done by Brenda Petrella on her Outdoor Photography School Youtube channel

The best thing is Photopills has what you need for any situation and not all situations need every aspect of the App.

I used it last year to plan a family portrait. I knew the date my daughter in law wanted for a family shot and I had a location and knew it would be around 4 in the afternoon. I used PP to predict that the sun would be behind some trees so I wouldn't have bright hard sunlight on everyone and the day we shot it was prefect. Only thing funny was that they wanted a winter holiday picture for their Christmas cards and this was September here in Houston and it was like 96 degrees outside!

I just got home from a trip to visit my family. I used PhotoPills AR feature to show my mother the location at 9-10pm of the upcoming supermoon which will be conveniently visible from her balcony. That was great for my Mom to visualize where she'll see the moon and at what time. For me, I'm planning locations where I can get a photo with minimal light pollution or with the moon rise over the Penn State football stadium.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
