Quite crook on friday spent most of day in bed.

Found quite a few new photographic forums unbeknown to me.

Never underestimate quality and content and etiquette of this forum with a splash of humour.

No repeating questions every 3 days "is 24 megapixel ok" no "are phones replacing cameras" no "what camera do I need" with no budget genre etc etc

Presume boss mam @Tim Mayo is still here lurking keeps a low profile lately.

Cheers all off to daughters engagement party in big smoke in a few hours almost 2 hour drive camera in hand

Obviously making a good post-op recovery. I thought your hand was your least useful bit at the moment... ;-)

Hope you are feeling better soon! I've had a nice dose of sinusitis for a few weeks now then the kids gave me a sickness bug on top :)

Still here keeping an eye on things :) But I only shoot with Sony these days, couldn't afford to keep my Canon gear as well unfortunately.

😃😁 Looks like I missed your post about your hand op. That does look quite uncomfortable! After I had an op a few years back it was a struggle to get out and take photos for a month or so. Luckily lots of little birds in our garden to practice on and my hands still worked. Hopefully you mend quickly.

You guys are kind of dull at times, but it’s better than my previous experience, one that sums up all that is wrong with the internet.

I was trying out a brand new model of camera. Each day, I posted an image or two, in case others were curious about the real-world performance. On the seventh day, I posted a photo of the camera all boxed up, with the title “It’s going back”.

The torch-and-pitchfork brigade immediately jumped all over me with both feet, telling me what a POS I was because now the merchant is going to have to sell it as “open box” and lose money, if I wasn’t sure I wanted it, I shouldn’t have bought it etc. etc.

But here’s the thing: it was a %#@ rental.

They apparently missed the first post, in which I explained the deal, but it never entered their minds that maybe they didn’t have all the info, maybe there was more to the story than they were aware of. They didn’t ask for clarification. Nope, they knew they were right - what George Will called “an excess of certitude” - and fully justified to tar and feather me.

But the worst part is, they will never admit they were wrong, they won’t think twice next time - and there will be a next time - and they won’t learn from the experience. They’ll justify it to themselves by saying “Well, I didn’t know….”

There was someone on a cycling forum I used to hang out on who would ask all sorts of questions and other folks would be super-helpful…and she’d do nothing, or post the most cockamamie reasons why she couldn’t do something. I almost half-suspect it was one of the other forum members trolling -it was that bad! 🤪

Maybe nowadays YouTube is go to information rather than sites like this?? Im happy here.

But of course use you tube as well
