  1. Yes
Got a rodeo on weekend trusty R5i that nearly overheats every rodeo nowadays and R6ii.

Start with R5 during afternoon and switch to R6as darkness descends.

BBF on both 70-200 RF 2.8L

Guy suggested I should be using pre capture maybe im stubborn or to old to learn etc etc, but as chute man pulls rope tight I start clicking often a few images before bull or bronc comes out. Fire away hopefully get the kick done and dusted 10 seconds on or sooner.

I cant see how pre capture will help me alot. Oh high speed mechanical.

One slight change this week first time wifey will be 90 degrees to me at the side of chutes, so im on side she will be front on straight across arena with R6ii to start with and 100-400 USM lens of course tis 5.6 so might struggle well before dark. Will check for spiders and cobwebs before use must be nearly 2 years I reckon.

cheers all any advice welcome

When you enable pre-capture and press the shutter half way or a BBF for AF it recycles 20 frames and over. It doesn't record them to your card. When you press the shutter all the way it starts to shoot but adds the previous 20 frames it was cycling through. Basically it pre-records 20 images faster to your card than a human can react. It only works in Electronic Shutter. Be sure to have large card capacity and an extra battery or two. Also prepare to spend a lot of time culling.

It would have basically been impossible to get this without pre-capture. I didn't post these because I didn't like the background.

I should say because of the amount of frames it records I don't use it often. I don't mind culling but when I don't move from my chair for two days my wife starts to worry. :) I assigned the DOF button on my R6III to enable/disable it. Finally found a use for that button after 40 years.

By the way I'm not sure the R5 Mark I has pre-capture.
