I have a Canon RF100-500mm lens which I dropped in water during the winter. It dried out OK and worked well again, although I did need to have the end glass replaced owing to a chip. However, now I am getting an error code (60) when attaching the lens to the camera (whether it's switched on or not) and the lens buzzes as the IS unit centres itself. The error code's description talks of an obstruction, but I don't know where that could have come from and there is nothing out of the ordinary visible in the lens glasses that I can see. Any advice would be welcomed.

Hi, firstly I would clean your contacts on the camera and the lens, is the IS unit floating in the lens the 100-500 is does move is it moving when you move the lens gently?

If not then I would contact Canon for a service, sorry !

Thanks for the response. Yes, the IS unit floats and moves around as it should, then once power is applied it snaps to the centre, accompanied by a soft buzzing. The screen is black (with the usual data display) and then the error message appears.
