Got a mate who looking to upgrade to R series.
Been with me and seen my images good and bad on R6.
He will do weather/lightning photos plus landscapes.
Keen on R5 I said it’s top of the tree probably but overkill for me.
But his question was “is it easy to use all this eye focus etc and calibration” I said no idea.

His closing comment was R6 must be easy to use if you can handle it

I loved both my 5D4 and R sensors. I wish Canon had released a 30mp R5. 30 is the sweat spot for me. I had the R for about 2 years and are times I wish I not sold it. Even with the poor fps once my lenses got onto it my 7D2 never came out of the bag.

You don't need eye focus for landscapes but it works well and not that hard to adapt. There is no calibration expect basic programming and it is even easier because it does not have the case numbers. No MFA because it focuses on the sensor, not a through a mirror assembly.

I'm not a landscape photographer but I've read those who are prefer more megapixels so I can't add to that. Sold my R5 and got the R6II and R7. I like lower megapixels for urban shooting. The only negative thing I can say about the R is Canon a slider bar on the back and not many like it.

First shot is with my RF 100-500. It came before my R5 did and I loved it right way. The R5 took little more time to adjust to. Second shot is with my RF 24-105 F4.

I just posted a B&W with taken with the R.

thanks. As you know im a begginner and bordering on geriatric need a new knee at moment. Ease of use important to me and maybe others. For example looked at sony looked at canon first impression was sony is complicated a negative for me even though may have been better camera. But im happy with r6i and r6ii

All mirrorless cameras can be simple to use. Just put them on single point AF. The R will be the least expensive and will suit your shooting needs. There will be a bit of a steep learning curve to take full advantage of the R5.

Hope all goes well for you.

I’ve got the R6 I’m not trading up but friend did ask honestly.
