Pets Studio portraits or outdoors?

I have a studio and have done plenty of studio shoots for clients but I always prefer outdoors... do you agree?

I definitely prefer the outdoor shots myself. It's also where our dog is happiest. I don't think a studio would suit him. All three shots are superb though!

Likewise Timothy and the vast majority of my clients have working dogs so prefer action shoots. However, I always have the option of a studio shoot if the weather is horrible. Amongst the action shots, I'll always throw in a few portraits as well.

I prefer the outdoor shots as well. More natural for working dogs as you say. Some people have those little "handbag" dogs so their natural environment would be better suited to the studio or indoors at the very least. I would also suggest that an off-camera flash can be used to great effect outdoors as well and can be used to tame the harsh shadows of the sun and still provide a very natural-looking portrait. The best of both worlds. The Speedlight or small flash like the Godox AD200 (Flashpoint Evolve 200) are small enough and light enough to take along.

I prefer outdoor shoots too. I did shoot at a studio at the owner's request but the dog, a working cocker, never relaxed at all.
