The wife and I took a road trip to Newberry, South Carolina over the weekend, and had dinner at this bar. They had what I can only describe as a giant stained glass bowl mounted upside down on the ceiling. The bartender said it was built in Chicago in the late 1800’s, and was installed in a few places before the current owner of the bar bought it and put it where it is now. The bar is a very well restored apothecary that dates back to the early 1900’s, with real character. Really nice place with great food, excellent gin & tonics, and friendly staff. It’s called Bar Figaro.
Newberry is a beautiful small town in central South Carolina, and it’s worth the trip. Great old downtown, with period architecture. I’ll post a few pics of the buildings later, but wanted to get this stained glass work of art out there.
