Weird effect from rolling shutter. There had to be have been at delay but at 40 FPS it would a tough to know as it would be a millisecond. The tip of the wing got left at the head. It should have been attached to the entire wing :)

Hi Only RF,

I see where you're coming from (and, if you're right, that's pretty wild!), but I think this could well be the tip of the foremost wing curved up... 👀

Either way - nice shot... :)

That is very possible. More likely what happened. I've never shot 40 fps before or had previous cameras maxed out. I grow a beard culling. I missed out on a dive sequence last fall so I thought I'd try it. I don't need it all the time and I did map mode to a button.

I was a credentialed sports photographer 40 years ago and pro motor drives could maybe crank out 6 FPS with a fresh set of batteries, and that felt like a lot.

I'd use the electronic shutter exclusively on my new cameras, but I have no use for 20, 30, 40 FPS. Culling hundreds of nearly-identical images makes my eyes cross. But my electronic shutter options only include 3 and 20 FPS(R5 classic), or 3 and 30 FPS (R7 classic.) My sweet would seem to be 5-10 FPS, but neither of my cameras allow that with ES, and my R5 jumps from 3 to 12 FPS in mechanical.

Thanks for the reply and work. I've never shot 40 fps before. Last fall I missed a very good bird diving opportunity. I had its beak just before the water and next frame head fully in. I would like to have seen the in between captures. I've mapped the drive mode to button so I'll pay more attention to the situation. When I had a R7 I used ES exclusively and with the R6II only EFCS.
