I will be traveling to Germany and Austria soon. We will be touring some historic sites including Castles and a Palace as well as nature sites. I only want to take along one lens for my R6MK2. I have a 24-70 2.8 L RF or a 70-200 2.8L RF. What lens should I take? Looking for answers and opinions.

My wife and I go to Europe every year to see family, and recently got back from 3 weeks in Germany, Norway, and Belgium. Streets in the old cities are narrow. Spaces inside castles can be REALLY narrow. My 24-105 f/4 L is sometimes not wide enough, but it's my most-used lens for travel. I took an EF 16-35 f/2.8 on a previous trip, and that wasn't long enough but it was great indoors. Last year I took the RF 10-20 f/4 and got some very dramatic shots, but it's a niche lens. If choosing between the 24-70 and the 70-200, I'd take the 24-70.

If your budget allows, pick up a Canon RF 24-240mm. It's a great all-purpose travel lens. Perhaps a bit slow for dark interiors, but otherwise a very useful lens.

When I went to Italy it took the RF 24-240 lens and it did great in most situations. I also had my RF 15-35 F2.8 lens for indoor, and wider angle.

Take the 24-70 2.8. You can always crop. PS and other apps offer Generative Fill to but that is a lot of extra work. Besides PS uses up credits for that.

Only if you run out of your allocated monthly credits. I get 250 a month via the grandfathered 20GB Photo Plan. The 1TB plan gets 1000 a month. I'm sure about the 1TB plan that includes LrC and Lr.

It's all about where the AI edit takes place. If it is local edit no credits are used. Examples are Adaptive Color profile, Denoise AI and all the tools in Generative Remove. I've never used a single credit until recently as I have no need for those tools. I tried Firefly 4X upscale the other day and that took 10 credits.

I'm not sure about Generative Fill but I believe that may be a cloud edit. It is only currently available in PS but will likely work its way into LrC. I have not used PS for over 3 years now as LrC has every thing I need so I can't say for sure. I should give Generative Fill a try to see if it uses credits.

I have this link which I skimmed since I'm not interested in cloud edits, especially paying for more every month. If I was a working pro and needed them then it would be a different story. Or a hobby shooter that likes to use those tools.

I have the 1TB Lightroom plan, and I only get 250 credits. Haven't used any so far. Don't really need them, though.

Tricky, out of the two you have mentioned if it's mainly landscape / architecture I would opt for the 24-70 2.8 - little torn as the larger tele's really do make for some outstanding landscape images (use my 100-300 way more than I really should)

Those cloud apps are specialty items. Unless you need that stuff LrC, Lr and ACR/PS has all you need these days.

You may want it get the free ON1 NoNoise that has Tack Sharp. I use it as a compliment to LrC after I complete all my editing. I paid about $30 US for it last year. It is free until July 31.
