Which third party lenses would you most like to see available for the RF mount, with full autofocus capability? My short list includes: The Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8: https://tamron-americas.com/product/35-150mm-f-2-2-8-di-iii-vxd/ I feel like this could be my primary walking around lens. I don't often go wider than 35 mm for close shots and the 150 gives more zoom range than the 70mm or 105mm lenses do. The f/2 to 2.8 makes it a fast enough lens for low light and night photography and I'm...
Hi all I see quite a few people shooting with a cage on their camera (usually smallrig). What are the benefits of having the cage fitted?
Hi When i take my CFexpress card out of the camera to transfer shots to the computer, and then put it back in, the default card has moved to card 2, so next time i shoot it records to the SD card. I want it so even if i have removed and replace the CFexpress, then that is the default card. At present i am going into the menu and resetting it back to card 1. Can it be set up to always default to 1 when present?
I learned this several years ago. Like most of us, I go to a lot of time and trouble to customize all my camera settings from customizing buttons and info screens to filling in my copyright info and how I like images named, etc. as well as the My Menu green screens. Before I package up a camera body, I take another camera or my phone and photograph every menu page on the rear LDC screen. I also scroll through the Customize Buttons settings and record how I have my camera set up. The reason...
Thread 'Photoshop Reflection removal tool'
Hi Guys, this new reflection removal tool of Photoshop is a hekuva tool, indeed. The slider has a scale of +/-100 while it defaults to 0 in the middle. Pull the slider either way and get the picture without the reflections or without the interior. Although I wonder about the usefulness of the version with out the reflections. What do you think, what are the cases when we can benefit from the pic without showing the inside, only the reflections? Thanks! :)
This is probably obvious to most of us but I was talking to a lad at work about photography and forums which has prompted me to post this! If you take a shot and YOU like it - post it up and be proud of it, don't look at other photographers post's / work and think I'm not that good I'm too embarrassed to put mine up. We are ALL at differing levels, it's not all about the kit - some have a better understanding of post processing, some do very little - I for one have been shooting for many...
I'm now the new president of our local community photography club. Haven't let it go to my head with issuing any executive orders so far but I seem to now get email from companies, other clubs and vendors. I was contacted last week by someone in marketing at DXO. They offered a partnership with our club where eligible members of our club can get a 20% discount on any of the DXO products. They ask that we put the information on how to get the discount where only paid up current members can...
I am trying to figure out how to get the histogram only to display when taking a shot. I have looked online and unchecked histogram in Red #9 Shooting Info Display and the level is still there. I know it is probably something really simple but I cannot figure it out. Is the best solution to reset all camera back to factory and start over?
I'm thinking about getting a MacBook Pro M2 to increase performance in my workflow. Right now I pass all my photos through DXO PureRaw and for example it takes me 30 minutes to process 45 files (24MB). Also if I use Denoise in LrC, it takes 5 minutes to process a 24 MB Cr3. Does anyone can confirm if I'll see an improvement in performance using DXO PureRaw in my workflow?
Thread 'Focus stacking on a windy day'
....doesn't really work all that well....
I see a similar question was asked, however am interested in what people shoot RAW or CRAW. I shoot mainly wildlife, birds and birds in flight on an R5 Mkii. Is there any real downside to using CRAW over RAW, understand file size is smaller so doesnt fill up the buffer so quickly when using CRAW. I think my main question is, is there any degradation in quality. I have no doubt some of you will have looked into this quite deeply and can give me a definitive answer. Thanks in Advance.
Thread 'Master setting for switching tracked subjects?'
Hello RF shooters. I bring another consult to you. I've notice that in the AF menu TAB 1, setting 6 of the R8 and R6II is an option that remains available in photo and movie mode, and i wonder, does it apply for both?. I ask because for example; the focus cases only are available in photo mode, and the movie servo AF track sens. Is only available in movie mode. One would think that these options could be used on both modes. Does anyone have knowledge of this?
Hello friends. Can you please help me decide if raw burst mode is worth using? I know that raw burst mode will save the group of photos as a special file that we must open to review the burst, select and extract the ones we like as a JPEG, hief or raw. Also pre-capture is only available here, with the huge downside that while the buffer is clearing, take additional photos is not allowed, no matter if you took 15+1 photos or 15+45 photos. Now, high speed continous offer us 3 burst modes...
Hey there! Going on a once-in-a-lifetime photo safari to Botswana. I have an R7 and have RF 100-400 and RF-S 18-150. Also have 16mm and 50mm but don't plan to rake those. I originally planned renting another R7 body so I can have both lenses to hand easily. Lately I think I have been over-thinking things (a life-long habit!) and worrying about lowlight issues that I may encounter. Drives/boats tend to be early morning and late afternoon. So I have been kicking around renting to try and...
Thread 'R1: 3 out of 5'
That's the score given by The Photographer to Canon R1. Here is the issue I have with this review: 1- The complain about AF failing to detect dark skin people. Contrast Detection and Low-Light Challenges Contrast-detection autofocus (CDAF) works by analyzing the difference in light intensity between adjacent pixels. It continuously adjusts the focus until it finds the point of highest contrast. However, in low-light environments, overall contrast is reduced, making it harder for the...
Thread 'File size sacrifice?'
So I am curious to get some suggestions for a small roadblock I am hitting. To get the quick questions out of the way Using R5mkii shooting in RAW always utilizing Lightroom mostly but also Photoshop when needed Let me quickly explain one of the things I do with my photography is I donate it to my states local motocross series. I used to race for many years and wanted to give back so I provide free photography for all the racers at every race. It is very important to me. That being said...
Well most likely Canon will come out with an improved R7 in the future, perhaps by the end of the year. Canon Rumors mentions it, I found the blog on the topic a bit more enlightening as far as guesses on what it will include. https://www.canonrumors.com/forum/threads/is-a-canon-eos-r7-mark-ii-coming-this-year-cr2.43271/
I'd love to see Canon come out with some fast wide angle L series prime lenses. Something like a 14mm or 16mm, even a 20mm would be nice. I know they make all kinds of L wide zooms but for me there is something old school that feels good with a good prime lens. Or at lease allow a 3rd party like Sigma to make some in the ART series. Anyone else?
