Is anyone using it? I found that I simply cannot get it calibrated to my eyeball. Truth be told, I am a T2 diabetic and I have days when my eyesight is less than optimal. But on the days that they aren't in 'Marty Feldman mode' I still can't get everything aligned. Any suggestions?
Thread 'Two-Factor Authentication for Amazon'
It it about time! A couple years ago I had Amazon drop-off "signature-required" camera gear without anyone signing, sure the lens was only $2899.00 but how could I prove it wasn't delivered? ...now all they have to do is follow through with requesting the code
I sure am glad that Canon allows you to map Buttons and Dials. I had the Main Dial set to for Tv on my R5, but I have noticed over the past year that the dial is sporadic, so I changed the position to Quick Control Dial 1. Quick Control Dial 2 is set for ISO and the lens Control Ring for Fv. Guess what? My EOS R doesn't have a Quick Control Dial 2, so I am going to leave it as Tv. What is your pattern setup?
Thread 'Twisted Blue the Band'
I received a call from Scott Alexander of Twisted Blue (a Band) yesterday as he had a question regarding cleaning up a band photograph to enlarge to poster size for selling, but the photo looks like 💩 when enlarged. Apparently he has a band photographer/videographer. I when through the usual spiel regarding image quality is best captured in camera and the more it gets transferred around the worse it looks... kind of like a Xerox of a Xerox... of a Xerox.... (kept it in layman terms). I...
I just got the update. 32mp file dropped from 40 seconds to 13 on my Mac Mini M4, 32GB. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN5ncWPpjjI&t=595s
Thread 'Lunar occultation of Venus'
Is anyone else planning on photographing this event? Timeline for the Pacific Northwest (USA). Because timings shift slightly depending on your precise coordinates, plan around this approximate window: 11:40 AM PDT: Disappearance (Immersion). Venus will vanish behind the invisible, unlit (dark) edge of the crescent Moon. The disappearance takes about 30 seconds to complete. 11:40 AM – 12:45 PM PDT: The Hidden Phase. Venus remains hidden completely behind the Moon for roughly one hour...
Well, after lots of back and forth I finally got an R1... It's a lot of money after all. To say I was a bit apprehensive at the "only" 24Mp sensor has delayed its purchase somewhat. I couldn't have been more wrong. What a beast of a camera! The ISO performance alone is mind blowing which was the main reason I wanted the R1, as living here in the UK, an area famed for its tropical climate and bright sunny days... ( Its rained virtually every day in June so far) add to the fact I'm usually in...
Need some help here….one of these days, (not soon) I’m going to move up from my trusty little R50 and get a full frame camera. The R50 has no IBIS, and I’m currently using image stabilized lenses. So far, so good. I’m wondering if adding IBIS to image stabilized lenses is overkill, or will it be worth the extra money to get a super-duper stabilized rig. Or does it even work that way? The real world implication of this is in the decision between an R8 (no IBIS), and an R6mk2 (IBIS). I’m sure...
Going to movies in the 70's and 80's. There was no Internet, streaming, PVR's, etc. The Movies. It felt like an event and everyone was on the same page. Line ups for the big blockbuster movies. People cheered, etc. I guess that goes back the Vaudeville and theatre because there was no entertainment at home. If it this type of thing actually did happen I would have liked to witness it. :) At minute at 50 seconds in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJFUiar_cjs Then my wife reminded me...
Hello all figured would post and ask few questions in hopes of getting different perspectives. So a few months ago had to sell all my equipment about 10k worth to pay bills. Would I shoot honestly not as much as would have likes so didnt see it as a huge loss. Then a family friend needed someone to shoot a quinceanera and had no one so I purchased the R100 with kit lense and damn it was hooked again. Haven't spend on anything else. Did not sell my flashs or reflectors. Have figured out want...
Thread 'To Canon , or not to Canon. That is the question.'
For Macro would you choose: A) RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM @ &1,349.00 or B) TTArtisan 100mm f/2.8 2X Macro @ $339.00 NOTE: I have no problem using a manual lens, however it would have been nice, if...
... but I'm definitely rooting for Norway! From PetaPixel: "The Norwegian soccer side has let it be known that they are heading to the United States in warrior-like fashion via a spectacular team photo." Story here.
Mostly bug fixes from v1.3.0. Details Download I'll probably install this later today.
I've done some research and I'm hesitant to spend $$$ on a Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT (Ver. 3) given the reviews on B&H and Adorama. On the other hand, I'm also concerned that the Godox will not work with my Canon EL-5 speedlight with because of the new hotshoe design. So, I have two questions for folks with flash trigger knowledge and experience: Is the ST-E3-RT as bad as the reviews in a WiFi environment? Does the EL-5 work well on a Godox X1R-C TTL wireless receiver? Here is...
This forum is maybe the least judgemental photography pages on all of the internet. Never a harsh word, all equal no beginners or pros , no read the manual comments just photographers enjoying chewing the fat sharing images thoughts techniques and lens camera comments good and bad, no software wars. A few laughs along the way. Glad to be a part of it. But boy oh boy researching R1 info in some Facebook groups gee some R1 users are down right nasty so ive learnt not to comment.
Thread 'MACRO conversion option?'
So, I have two thoughts for cheap MACRO alternative 1) 55mm Reversal Ring for my FD 50mm f/1.4 SSC in combination with FD-RF adapter on my R5. Camera | FD-RF Adapter | Reversal Ring | FD 50mm f/1.4 2) 55mm Male to Male Coupling Ring for my Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 SSC AND Minolta MC 50mm f/1.7 in combination with FD-RF adapter on my R5. Camera | FD-RF Adapter | FD 50mm f/1.4 | Coupling Ring | MC 50mm f/1.7 (reversed) Of course, I'd rather have a RF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro, but my wife say's I...
My wife and I are on our last day of our trip to Sicily, Italy and she has given the executive approval to lighten the load in my backpack. My camera is the R6 Mkii and all of my lenses are ef mount, so I am open to ef as well as rf mounts. On this trip, I brought a Canon 16-35mm f4, a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2, and a Canon 70-200 f2.8 ii. Over the last 6 days I only thought about using the 70-200, but didn't because I wasn't in a place to easily take off my backpack and switch lenses. I feel...
Is there a programme/app which can tell average focal length. Example have 700 images from a night rodeo all taking with 70/200 rf 2.8 trying to establish average focal length. Reson toying with idea of prime for second rodeo camera for side kick (the wife) either 135 rf 1.8 or 85mm rf 1.2 gut feel 135mm might be close to average but the extra stops of light with 1.2 is big as well for night rodeo. cheers all
Thread 'Swapped my R7...for an R10'
I had finally had enough with the missed focuses with my R7 and it's gone. This, after two trips to Canon Service for repair. The R7 II isn't available yet and I wanted another APS-C R body for my RF 100-500L lens so an R10 was purchased. My hobby is aviation photography Verdict: All of the autofocusing problems were now gone and the R10 has been performing beautifully. It will be an excellent carry over until the R7 II comes along. If your R7 is giving you annoying inconsistencies that...
I purchased the R7 as a mirrorless upgrade to my 7D MkII. I had already moved from a 5D MkII to the R for full frame mirrorless but I liked a crop factor body as an option with long lenses and wildlife or sports. To be honest, I've enjoyed shooting with the R7 overall but have been bothered by 3 things; shutter shock, rolling shutter and the absence of a vertical battery grip which I like with long lenses, especially with a small body like the R7. I recently did some birds in flight...
