In the Sony echo system they show the highlight alerts or Zebras right when you are auto focusing, I hate how in the Canon echo system they show the highlight alerts when it's too late (after the picture is taken).

I'm aware of the highlights feature in the Canon's menus and everything else on that video. It was the lens retracting part. I never noticed it before because my cameras never go to sleep while I'm shooting. I guess when I looked at that menu a few years ago I figured my lenses don't retract so I just skipped it.

Regarding that setting, retract the lens. I think that this affected only lenses with that feature. May be I was wrong. I'll change it to test it.

PD... Oops I had it off, I should have switched off long time ago.

I thought so too but I’ve never seen Jan with a retractable lens so why would he state that?

You can't believe everything that you find on the internet. Just test it and make your own conclusions unless you find documentation coming from, in this case, Canon explaining the impact of this feature.

I know that but Jan is pretty highly respected and his reviews, etc get linked and posted all over the place. If it was someone that never came out of the basement I wouldn't have bothered. That isn't just method of shooting he prefers where you have all types of button mapping options to choose from.
