Yay, good news for APSC owners like R7 and especially wide angle users and video bloggers:-
Came out of the blue, really:-
 
Tamron has a lens on the way as well, an 11-20mm. Hopefully we'll eventually see some full-frame lenses as well - not that I'm unhappy with the Canon lenses I use, but more equipment to choose from is always nice.

The feeling is that they are not likely to release the licence for full frame lenses for some time because that is where the big money is. But as you say, it will be nice to have some more options over time.
 
That's my read on it, too. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I'd still be happy to see it happen eventually!
