I've been using DPP for culling and been somewhat happy with it.

Today, whenever I hit "Command-Delete" to nuke an image, it deletes it and minimizes the window! Needless to say, this gets tiresome when working my way through a burst.

Also that command doesn't seem to work when in Quick View mode and I swear it did before.

What is this "Command-Delete" thing of which you speak? 🙂

I can't speak for both of us DPP users, but I don't see the behavior you're describing. Del or Alt-Del works in the main folder window, and Alt-Del works in Quick Check, and neither messes with window size.

In the past I have seen weirdness accumulate in DPP over time, especially with keyboard shortcuts. Things that used to work start working differently or not at all. Reinstalling the software or updating to a new version seems to help.

Oddly enough, I didn't see this either, until tonight! I was just getting into a workflow where I went to "quick check" - > "full screen" and waded through my images, nuking the clangers as I went. It was working really well, so the boffins at Canon must have gotten wind.

First "Command/Delete" stopped working in Quick Check and now, tonight, when I hit "Command/Delete" the whole window disappeared! (It didn't crash the software, just minimized the window). 😑

Actually, think I reinstalled DPP not that long ago, when I ripped out and reinstalled the whole Canon suite because the Canon PP&L software stopped talking to my ....Canon...printer.🙄

I'm beginning to see that perhaps the software division is not where Canon's brightest minds reside....

I was going to add that to my original post. Mac and PC software isn't their core competency. DPP is nice enough but it doesn't seem to get a lot of attention from their developers. Good enough is good enough.

While I was playing with DPP checking on your symptoms I took the opportunity to install the latest version. I thought at that moment, this is a bit of a Win95 experience.

I'm an LrC user but I always pre-cull using DPP before importing files.

DPP. I select all files and the Quick Check - Full Screen. I then scroll using the arrow keys and press X for unwanted/unusable files. When done I select Edit - Rating - Select Rejected Images only. Then File - Move to Trash.

DPP's sizing algorithms for fit to screen display are excellent. Quick Check shows the Jpeg version that uses your in camera settings which you also see on the LCD. Sharp and contrasty.

I was just nuking them on the fly, but unlike you, I don't have any X-Rated images....🫣

Canon just does not invest the time or resources. Whomever looks after DPP likely has other assignments that occupy most of their time. Maybe contracted out. They do put the time into DLO for true digital deconvolution. As for rest I have not seen any major/significant update in the last decade. They do not want to compete in the software arena.

On a Mac, CMD and CTRL are different keys.

When I delete a file with CMD-backspace, the desktop flashes briefly. I suppose the Finder takes over, and then gives control back to DPP.
