R6MKII - RF 24-105mm f4. This is my first time really focusing on Street Photography and it just happened to be whilst on an OS holiday. These pics were taken in London, would love your feedback. BTW, I was trying to find a different way to photograph Big Ben, I wonder what you think.

Hi Simmo, thanks for sharing your first time street photography shots. It's an interesting style to do, indeed! Enjoyed them ll!

Here's some friendly (and honest) feedback for you:

1. I also have many such kinda snapshots, but I delete them on the fly and retake the picture after the big car goes out of the frame. Otherwise its a distraction.

2. Big Ben: I would have moved a bit more to the left to be able to capture the entire clock, but that's just me.

3. On this picture only the lamp pole on the left is in focus. Not sure if that was your intention, but I might have used a higher f number to limit such shallow DOF.

4. Now your talking! The blurry guy on the left adds a bit of action/motion to the shot, yet I always try to avoid waste bins (left side) getting into the frame. Just an unfortunate distraction. Positioning yourself left or right will help to frame a nice picture, although such "objects" can be easily removed in post.

5. A photograph is always nice when we can find a POI (Point of Interest). Here the guy is not only the POI but his orange outfit makes him really pop-out. Well seen. Composing with the Rule of Thirds in mind is also great here. The perspective distortion on the right side (leaning verticals) may also be corrected in post. During composing the pic I would have been more careful to capture the entire word "REAWAKENED." on top right. Generative Expand AI may help here or may not. If not just delete the word. No one will ask you what happened to that word!! :)

6. I think 1/60 sec may not be enough here. There's a lot of motion blur that can be avoided by choosing faster shutter speeds. Don't worry about underexposure, try to set the camera to AUTO ISO and call it a day. The R8 is an excellent camera that can easily handle high ISOs, while Denoise AI is another great tool when needed.

Take care. :)

Nice images and thank you for sharing. I especially like the "Street Photography" feel of the last two. They put people in a place. To me that is the essence of street photography and they capture it very well.

I also like the image of the worker walking across the store-front. The lighting and colors are wonderful. But, keeping the street theme of "people in a place", I wonder if a panning image could have drawn attention and focus to the worker against a blurred background and colors of the storefront.

I like the image of Big Ben as a vertical composition framed by the trees. Perhaps a tighter crop that removed the bottom? There is a flow to that image that draws my eye. Well done.

Btw, I said the least about the two photos that I liked the most. The photo of the worker sitting on the bench makes me want to ask him how crappy his day was. I can't give higher praise than that, but I also can't refrain from mentioning the juxtaposition of the colors between his pants and the glass. Your final image also captures a street vibe that rings true with me... a street-side restaurant serving good food. I wonder how that sample tasted and how gppd the restaurant smelled.

Finally, I think you picked a good time of day for these photos. There is enough background light to give depth, but not so much to override the colors of the local ambiance. Your colors shine through.

Thanks for your feedback. Have taken all your comments on board. Interestingly, i was trying to get a slightly blurred white car in the first picture and i had to wait ages for a white car LOL. I have done it in several other pictures taken in France as well. Ill post shortly to see what you think.
