About two o'clock this morning I was out minding my own business when...

I couldn't get Exposure Simulation to work. Camera - Menu 7 Expo. Simulation has always been set to Enable.

I could not view an estimate of the Simulation using settings like: f/2.8 - ISO 51200 - 15mm the screen never displayed and changes...just a dim/dark image, regardless of the settings.

I did notice the Exp. SIM was flashing red if memory is correct. I did the usual troubleshooting Power/Battery nothing.

Dean, everyone knows that nothing good happens at 2 o'clock in the morning. Maybe it was too dark, as it often is at 2 am, or if it were me, I would have checked to see if I still had the lens cap on.....been there done that....
Other than my smarta$$ answers, I don't have a real, productive, and helpful idea. Hopefully a more normal person that me will chime in.... 🤓 Good luck.

I'm not sure what would cause what you're seeing and I'm sure that you checked the manual, BUT the R5 FW 2.2 manual page 287 does have some info on the exposure simulator indicator's behavior. There does seem to be some weirdness if the exposure settings don't make the feature happy.

Apologies if I'm telling you something that you already know.
